I read The Satanist and it was a good story but I don't like the way he writes or his views so won't read any more of his.
I read Father Frank and it was really good.
I read The Dubliners and it was really good.
I read The Wasp Factory and loved it - will def read more if not all of his.
I just finished Never Let Me Go and it was brilliant, I couldn't put it down and finished it within 24 hrs.

Thanks for all your recommendations - I'll try some more that people said too.

I read The Satanist too. Enid Blyton meets Conan Doyle I reckon! I'd agree with Kel on the views though and won't be seeking out anymore of his either.

Glad you liked Never Let Me Go Kel, I thought it was fab!

A few of you on the forum who may remember me ranting about 'A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius' in Cork may be pleased to know that it was fab when I got past the mega introduction. Really funny and moving in parts. Great read!

I received a great book for my birthday called Freakonomics, which essentially shows how a raft of people and organisations ranging from gangsta' rappers to estate agents are all pretty much similar in how they operate, despite their very different appearances... very clever and also very funny...

Look at me revisiting old threads!!!

Just reading Edward Bunkers (He played Mr Blue in Reservoir Dogs don't you know) Little Boy Blue and will be shortley following it with Dog Eat Dog.

Absolutly top notch writing and I believe Little Boy Blue was based on his own experiences as a juvenile criminal on the streets and in the penal system. I would recommend it to anyone.

Also Charlie Higsons; Happy Now

Which is alright, he strays into Ian Banks territory which is good but I was dissapointed by the finish.

Finally

Colin Batemans Mystery Man which I believe those fuckers Richard and Judy recommended. However don't let that put you off. As usual, it is funny fast paced and filled with tremendous characters. I don't think he as ever written a poor book. The Dan Starky ones are my faves!!

My favorite book of all time is "The Prince of Tides" by Pat Conroy.
He writes beautifully and has a wonderful talent for bringing the characters to life.
