Seen there is some debate on the War in Iraq (Top of the Pops meets Newsnight) If anyone is in London for the Sultans gig, there is a stop the war march during the day, hopefully there should be a good turnout (and hopefully there should be no Galloway)
Hope to see you for both

No-one likes War, unfortunately sometimes needs must....Going back as far as you can go in history you will read about War, some wrong however some were right, if our forces did not protect this land & the world in WW1 & 2 where would we be today!!!! I respect anyone who wishes to attend a 'stop the war' march, however what war are they trying to stop? Our troops are not fighting a war with troops from Iraq, they are fighting insurgence and a 'war on terror'....Do we want to stop that, I dont think so..You say going into Iraq was wrong, do you think that the citizens who we alll saw pulling down the statue of Saddam thought it was wrong too?

This war is incomparible to WW1 or WW2. If we are going to judge how right or wrong the actions are by looking at the reactions of the citizens, what are the daily car bombings and suicide bombings and attcks on troups telling us?
The protests are anti-war, not pro-Hussein, no one's saying it's not a good job he's gone.

I never compared the Iraq war to WW1 or 2, I said some wars are right some are wrong some are taken for just reasons some for unjust.....Your right there are car bombings and attacks on our troops, however they are blowing up mosques and temples of their own kind, is that the fault of our forces? Al Queda operate in Iraq, these people have to be stopped, I was in London on the day of the bombings, I catch the tube to work, I hope to God we dont experience that again, so the War on Terror has to go on... I think we should put this to bed and agree to disagree!

I don't really want to get into a big debate about this but there has never been any proof of Al Qaeda operating in Iraq. I wholeheartedly agree with the war on terror wherever it should be fought but Iraq is not the correct location. The war in Iraq was started for a couple of reasons - the first was so Georgie Bush Junior could go one better than his father and get rid of Saddam, the second was for the US Government's Crack - Oil. There are way more vicious dictators in countries like Nigeria and Zimbabwe who are allowed to continue unhindered by international politics simply because they don't have the black stuff.

I'm not opposed to people fighting terror and I am COMPLETELY opposed to our troops being put at risk by tawdry Sunday rag mag's need to sell papers but I do question the correctness in them being there. This isn't an insult to the armed forces, they are as much victims as the Iraqi people - who lets face it, have probably had a worse time of it since the US and we invaded than before.

Well said Pippa, IHALS I'm happy to agree to disagree, no harm in an exchange of views.
Runcey, that goes without saying.

And they've got to be shimmery like an alien.
What's wrong with your hair? Fat's fine - more shimmery.

Edited twice to correct my punctuation, God I'm pinickety tonight.

I put one little posting up whilst on holiday in New York and War nearly breaks out here. Happy for people to agree to disagree, but on a point of principle (as someone else has said this to me before) you probably can't ask those people who tore down Saddam's statue what they think as they are probably now dead....so much for freedom eh! It is also the hypocracy of George W with Iran now too (they can't have weapons....but it is ok for USA to have nukes!!)
Some Bush is Great....some Bush is terrible!
